How to set start and end dates
Availability windows control when your form can be filled at all: a start date keeps it locked until the moment you choose, and an end date closes it for good after the deadline.
-
Open the availability settings
Launch Form Timer on your form and find the start date and end date controls. Each can be used alone or combined into a full window.
-
Set the start date
Pick the exact date and time the form should open. Before that moment, visitors see a clear "not open yet" screen instead of the questions, so you can distribute the link days in advance without anyone starting early.
-
Set the end date
Pick when the form stops accepting responses. After the deadline, late visitors see a closed-form message. Combined with a start date, this defines the complete availability period, for example Friday 9:00 to 11:00 AM.
-
Add a per-respondent limit if you need one
The window controls when the form is available; a countdown controls how long each person gets once they start. A common exam setup uses all three: opens Monday, closes Friday, 60 minutes per candidate.
-
Test both sides of the window
Open the form link before the start date to confirm the locked screen, and check the closed state after the end date on a test form. Two minutes of testing prevents an exam-day surprise.
