Countdown timer for Google Forms
Google Forms has no built-in clock. Form Timer adds a live countdown bar to the top of any form, so a 30-minute quiz actually lasts 30 minutes and every respondent can see exactly how much time remains.
Try it
1. Which planet has the most moons?
Demo runs 60× faster than real time.
Set any duration, from minutes to hours
Pick the limit that matches your assessment: a 5-minute vocabulary check, a 45-minute midterm, or a 3-hour certification exam. The timer starts when the respondent opens the form, not when you share the link, so late openers still get their full allotted time.
A clock respondents can actually pace by
The countdown stays pinned to the top of the form while people scroll and type. As time runs low the bar changes color, so nobody is surprised by the deadline. That visibility removes the most common complaint about timed tests: "I did not know how long I had left."
Every second is recorded
Alongside the visible countdown, Form Timer writes start time, end time, and total duration to your linked Google Sheet. When a student claims the timer cut them off early, you have the exact numbers to check.
Set up in under two minutes
Install the add-on once from the Google Workspace Marketplace, open your form, and launch Form Timer from the puzzle-piece add-ons menu. Choose a duration, save, and share the form link as you always do. No new platform, no importing questions, no respondent accounts.
